Wild Forces Event Registration

Wild Reserve Grove Planting

Description:

It's official! Our first volunteer event of the year is scheduled!

We will be planting a large stand of oak trees in our very own Wild Reserve. Wild Reserve is a site within the UCD Putah Creek Riparian Reserve approximately 0.35 miles long that Wild Campus has been given stewardship of to carry out our conservation projects. This oak tree planting is a great opportunity to help us create beneficial habitat for native wildlife species, and for to leave your mark on this campus and make a difference alongside our members!

Last year's Wild Campus Grove Planting on a different part of the Putah Creek Riparian Reserve was a huge success, and we hope to have even more great volunteers come out this year to help us plant 100 more native oak tree seedlings!

After their initial planting, these trees will be cared for by Wild Campus through their first year to ensure their survival to maturity.

All holes will have been pre-dug, so the event will be a lot easier and a whole lot more fun!

Bring gloves if you don’t want to get your hands dirty! We have about 20 pairs, but not enough for everyone.

The event will be held Saturday February 23rd, starting at 10:00 am sharp. We will have a break for lunch at noon with free pizza from Woodstock's Pizza Davis and then finish up the project by 1:00 pm at the very latest.

The site is within biking distance from main campus, but there is plenty of parking space, though we encourage carpooling.

To get to the site, go west on Hutchison drive towards the University Airport, take a left on Hopkins road, go all the way down the road until it curves sharply to the left. At this point, park on the side of the road, then walk or bike along the gravel road on the right past the green gate until you see some enthusiastic Wild Forces members and oak tree seedlings on your left.

Here's a map to the site.

If you are interested in taking part in this event, please register using the short form below. We only have space for 30 volunteers, so sign up early if you wish to attend.

If you would like to participate, but are not currently a Wild Forces member, please sign up now.

A special thanks to the Putah Creek Council for supplying the trees and the UC Davis Putah Creek Riparian Reserve for supplying materials and help with drilling!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

We are sorry but registration for this event is now closed.

Please contact us if you would like to know if spaces are still available.
